Overview

This eight-month graduate certificate program provides internationally educated nurses with specialized training related to the prevention and management of cardiovascular illness/disease. These diseases impair everyday physical and mental functions and reduce the ability to perform daily activities. As a graduate of this program, you will be well-equipped to manage patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will acquire the skills to manage a patient’s cardiac condition, create an individualized care plan, educate patients on self-care, and assess their condition.

The objective of this 6 days foundation course is to enhance academic study, IT & soft skills of the students. The academic study module emphasizes on writing, reflective & assignment making skills.

  • Applicants must have completed a Degree/ Diploma in Nursing and should be registered with the Nursing Council of their country of education.

  • As a graduate, you will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:
     
    • Differentiate normal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to recognize signs and symptoms of atherosclerotic heart disease.
    • Determine the risk factors of cardiovascular disease in patients in the provision of relevant health education.
    • Design an integrated nursing care plan using knowledge of cardiovascular pharmacology.
    • Analyze comprehensive health assessment data to inform clinical practice.
    • Interpret hemodynamic data obtained via hemodynamic monitoring to determine when pharmacological, surgical and/or mechanical therapy may be appropriate.
    • Use a systematic approach of ECG interpretation to identify specific arrhythmias and the significance and treatment of each arrhythmia.
    • Develop a cardiac rehabilitation patient care plan based on a comprehensive review of patient health data.
    • Evaluate a patient cardiac rehabilitation plan to assess its effectiveness and identify if any changes are required.
    • Provide responsible, accountable and ethical care in compliance with professional standards.
    • Respond to cardiovascular emergencies using basic and advanced cardiac life support.
