The year 2016 seems to be a lucky year for the nurses and nursing students who are about to enter the profession. With Canada to hold on international students with relaxed citizenship rules, now the government of India is also planning to create a ‘live data register’ particularly for nurses.
The aim of the government is to create a technology platform that collects and updates the latest information on human resources in the field of nursing profession in the country.
“Further, this technology will not only help the government in better manpower planning, but also in taking policy-level decisions for nursing professionals” J.P. Nadda – Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare
“The creation of an ‘Indian Nurses Live Register’, clearly, will help in getting the latest, accurate and real-time information on human resources in the realm of nursing in India” said by the Minister at the occasion of Florence Nightingale Awards held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Florence Nightingale Awards held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, notably, were not only held to felicitate the 35 outstanding nursing personnel employed at the Center, States and Union Territories’ administration, but also to list some initiatives too.
The occasion, intelligibly, aimed at strengthening of the nursing cadre. The Union Minister For Health and Family Welfare, J.P. Nadda, added that the initiatives might include the up gradation of institutions from nursing schools to nursing colleges.
In addition, the government will focus on the training of the nurses and the development of Nurse Practitioner courses for primary health care services and for critical care too.
In order to gather and put all the nursing related information in the portal, here it is –
- Government initiatives for the field of nursing
- Human resource availability
- Job opportunities
- e-learning modules
- Information on nursing and midwifery education
- Circulars
- Notifications
A ‘National Nursing and Midwifery Portal’ is being developed, so all of the above information will be available on a single platform.
It seems like the government is trying hard to stay at the heart of technology and resources used in the nursing profession.
